Rutherford County -- July 14, 2023: On the morning of July 9, 2023, Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, conducted a patrol in the Cliffside Community in the region of NC Highway 120.

The Officer and members of the Narcotics Team from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle for a safe movement violation while they were out on patrol.  During the course of the traffic stop, a K9 officer performed a search of the car using a free-air sniff and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search was carried out as a direct consequence of this. During the course of the search of the vehicle, the Deputy found 1,063 grams of methamphetamine.

Deputies located 1,063 grams of Methamphetamine. As a result, the driver, Amy Laughter McCurry, 54 of Ellenboro, and the passenger, Trisha Sue Eden, 52 of Forest City, were arrested and charged with the following:
Amy McCurry:
Trafficking Methamphetamine
Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance
Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance
Driving While License Revoked
Driving Left of Center
Trisha Eden:
Trafficking Methamphetamine
Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Both McCurry and Eden got a $750,000 secured bond.

On Sunday, July 9, 2023, while deputies were executing the aforementioned traffic check, a vehicle driven by Darrell Marcus Corleone, 32, of Mooresboro, was traveling along NC Hwy 120. Mr. Corleone was driving recklessly at the time, and he came dangerously close to hitting deputies. Due to of Corleone's erratic driving, a Sheriff's Deputy pulled him over. During the course of the traffic stop that Coleone was subjected to, it was discovered that he was in control of 56 grams of cocaine. The following charges were brought against Coleone:

Trafficking Cocaine
In addition to the trafficking charge, Mr. Coleone was cited by the NCSHP for:
Fail to maintain lane control
Possess an Open Container
Coleone was given a $50,000 secured bond.
