Woman Charged in Death of 82-Year-Old in Henderson County

Henderson County -- July 7, 2023: The Henderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for assistance on Regency Loop Dr in the Clear Creek Community reporting a death investigation early on Thursday, July 6, 2023.

Patricia Moniz, an 82-year-old citizen of Henderson County, was found dead when Sheriff's Deputies arrived. The deputies classified the circumstances surrounding her death as suspicious, which prompted a more thorough investigation.

Major Crimes Unit of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office was sent to the scene. Amber Renee Nelson, a 35-year-old Hendersonville resident, was identified as a suspect and detained by the investigators.

Nelson has been formally charged with the following crimes:
Felony Murder
Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

Amber Renee Nelson is being held without bond in the Henderson County Detention Facility. The initial court appearance for Nelson is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 7, 2023, in Henderson County.
