APD Arrest Maggie Valley Man on Assault Charges

Asheville -- June 3, 2023: Asheville Police Department reported a Maggie Valley man was arrested Sunday, May 28, 2023.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., officers from the APD responded to a call of a disturbance at a business that was located close to the 90 block of Biltmore Avenue. A customer at the business was being belligerent and refused to leave. The officers were informed that the man attacking people on the Biltmore Ave. Matthew Early Beyer, 39, of Maggie Valley was taken into custody and faces the following charges:

-Assault Inflicting Serious Injury
-Assault by Strangulation
-Simple Assault
-Assault on a Government Official
-Resist/Delay/Obstruct
-Intoxicated and Disruptive.

Beyer was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $26,000 secured bond (or $2,600 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.
