Asheville -- May 28, 2023: A pedestrian was killed in a car accident that happened in North Asheville on Monday
early in the morning, is now being investigated by the Asheville Police.

The following information was released Saturday by the Ashevlle Police Deparment:

Asheville, NC (May 26, 2023): The Asheville Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in North Asheville on Monday during the early morning hours that claimed the life of the pedestrian.
APD Patrol Officers responded to the scene of the crash near the intersection of US 25 (Merrimon Avenue) and Marcellus St around 05:42 a.m. on May 22nd. Benjamin David Brown (04/09/1977) was on a skateboard traveling south on US 25 (Merrimon Avenue) and entered the intersection with Marcellus Street against a steady red traffic light. A Republic solid waste collection truck traveling east on Marcellus Street entered the intersection at the same time, and the two collided. Brown was dislodged from the truck within a short distance and came to rest in the roadway, where a Subaru Legacy sedan traveling west on the exit ramp struck the victim, creating a second impact.
Brown succumbed to injuries sustained from the collisions on scene; next of kin has been notified.
