5th Person Faces Charges in Jackson County Murder
Jackson County -- William Mulenex, 39, of Brevard, North Carolina, was detained Saturday by law enforcement officers
from the Union County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Transylvania County
Sheriff's Office in connection with the murder of Ms. Alison "Ali" Thomas.
Mulenex was identified by UCSO detectives as the fifth suspect in this continuing homicide investigation, and warrants were secured for his arrest. Ms. Alison Thomas was discovered dead in Jackson County, North Carolina's mountains after being reported missing to the UCSO on 02/17/2023. Mulenex is now being processed in the Union County Correctional Facility on charges of First Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder.
In addition to Mulenex's arrest, three of the individuals who had already been detained during this investigation now face additional charges, according to UCSO detectives. Now each of Amanda Griffin, Brandon Kisiah, and Shawn Adkins is also charged with first-degree murder. At the time of their initial detention, Griffin, Kisiah, and Adkins were all charged with First Degree Murder Conspiracy. All of the suspects who have been accused and detained in this case are still being held.
