Helpline Begins, Resources Setup for Workers Affected by Mill Closure

Haywood County -- March 26, 2023: Both Haywood Community College and the Municipality of Canton
have websites set upspecifically to offer information and support to workers impacted by the closure of the Pactiv-Evergreen plant.

Also, there is a specific Facebook page. These websites will be regularly updated with details on job fairs, employment and training, insurance plans, financial aid, health and wellness, and other community and employee assistance programs.

Call the Haywood County Resource Center's telephone hotline at 828-356-2023 starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 27, if you need aid with finding work, getting training, getting health insurance, getting medical care, or getting financial support or counseling.
The helpline will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and its purpose is to connect callers with community resources and health and human services.

Any anybody who has been impacted by the mill closure can call the confidential helpline. It is not meant to be used in an emergency. Call 911 if you have a medical emergency. Call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline if you are experiencing a mental health or drug use crisis and need to speak with a skilled counselor.
