GoFundMe Page Setup for Woman Killed in Car Crash

Jackson County -- A Jackson County woman was killed when a car crashed into hers after it crossed the center line of Hwy 246 late Saturday night, hitting the woman's car head on.

The incident happened in the Scaly Mountain community. Oscar Rios Ruiz, 20, left the scene.  

The woman killed was 28-year-old Renee Waller. She worked at Dollar General and had just left there to go to her home in Jackson County. Waller died at the scene.

Ruiz is charged with felony death by vehicle, felony hit and run, reckless driving, driving left of center, DWI, add provisional DWI, and being under the legal drinking age.

He is behind bars on $116,000 bond. He's scheduled for court Oct. 23rd.
