Asheville Police Investigating Shooting that Left One Man Dead

Asheville -- April 13, 2022:   The Asheville Police Department is investigating a shooting fatality that occurred shortly before midnight Tuesday in a west Asheville area. Around 11:30 p.m., APD officers were summoned to the 300 block of Fairfax Ave., Tuesday night where they discovered Lamichael Shawn Carter, 27, deceased in the street.

Carter's family members have been contacted.

Detectives and Forensics Technicians with APD’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and are still following up on leads and processing evidence. Carter’s death marks the fourth confirmed homicide in Asheville in 2022 - the third by gunfire.
