University of North Carolina Student 1st Confirmed Case of Omnicrom Variant in NC
News -- Monday December 13, 2021: Mecklenburg County Health officials first reported the presence of the omicron variant
on Friday, noting that the positive test came from a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student and had been discovered through the university’s sequencing program.

Omicron Variant Found In Mecklenburg
Mecklenburg County Public Health is aware of a positive test for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in a student at UNC Charlotte. The case was identified through University's sequencing program.
The student was isolated and has recovered. Exposure was limited with only one known contact.
The best way to prevent COVID-19 is to get vaccinated, wear a mask while indoors, and wash hands frequently.
