Buncombe County -- Buncombe County Government Community News August 10, 2021
A Parent-Led Conversation Addressing Immunizations as Buncombe Students Prepare for In-Person Learning, on Wednesday, August 18th from 5:30-6:30 PM
Buncombe County Health and Human Services and community partners present Let’s Talk Back-to-School Immunizations, a parent-led, community-centered discussion about back-to-school immunizations. “Immunizations provide a shield of protection for our community,” says Dr. Jennifer Mullendore, the Buncombe County Medical Director. “The COVID-19 pandemic caused many kids to fall behind on their routine immunizations, making our students and community vulnerable to preventable, dangerous diseases like whooping cough, measles, and mumps.”
This timely discussion hopes to support the overall effort of Buncombe leadership in ensuring a safer community for all residents. During this discussion, our panel of local experts will discuss the science behind immunizations, the role they play in keeping our community safe, where families can access immunizations in Buncombe County, and the steps schools are taking to ensure that our students stay in the classroom this year.
Let’s Talk Back-to-School Immunizations will be live-streamed on Wednesday, August 18th, at 5:30 PM in English on the Buncombe County Government Facebook page and in Spanish on the Buncombe County Health and Human Services Facebook page. This event will also be interpreted into American Sign Language.
