Buncombe County -- Buncombe County Government News: Nov. 23, 2020 Update
Buncombe County officials continue to take proactive steps to keep our community safe and healthy during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
NC Governor Roy Cooper on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, extended Phase 3 of the pandemic reopening plan until Dec. 11, 2020, as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations reach new heights. Buncombe County and all of its municipalities will adopt Executive Order 180, which extends Executive Order 176 while also tightening mask requirements and enforcement.
Under Executive Order 180, current precautions will remain in place, but ammended provisions include:
Face coverings must be worn outdoors if it is not possible to maintain a consistent physical distance of at least 6 feet from non-household members.
Face Coverings must be worn in any public indoor space even when maintaining 6 feet of distance. Including, but not limited to: Gyms - even when exercising
All schools - public and private
Large retail businesses with more than 15,000 square feet must have an employee stationed near entrances to enforce mask wearing and implement occupancy limits.
