Buncombe County -- From HHS: One thing that remains solid during this time of rapid change is the gratitude we, as Americans,

feel toward those that defend our freedom. What started as a day to honor the end of World War I is now a national day of recognition during which Americans reflect on the monumental sacrifices made by our service members.

Join us as we honor our Veterans in a Virtual Veterans Day Ceremony-taking place on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. on the Asheville City YouTube channel. This year’s keynote speaker, 100-year-old Dr. PJ Moore, will share his stories and reflect on his time as a surgeon in WWII. Other speakers will be Stephanie Young, Director of the Charles George VA. Also, there will be three readings from Veterans from Vietnam and Iraq who are part of a Veterans writing group, Brothers and  Sisters Like These.
