Scam Alert: Suspect Imitating Buncombe County Fire Personnel

Buncombe County -- Buncombe County Government Community News August 22, 2020 Community Scam Alert: The Buncombe County Fire Marshal’s office received multiple complaints about an individual pretending to be with their office and asking to take pictures inside and outside of their homes.

The suspect is driving a white Nissan, carrying a clipboard, and using a face badge as a form of identification and was last seen in the Alexander Place subdivision of the Leicester community. Unless your home has been involved in a fire, the Fire Marshal’s Office will not be conducting any of these activities. 

If County staff needs to be on your property, they will be driving a marked vehicles, have identifying clothing, a County badge, and provide alternative identification on request. If this suspect approaches your property, please do not interact and call law enforcement.
