Traffic Alert: I-40 East Closed Near Exit 53

Asheville-- Sept 20, 2019 - NC DOT Announcement I-40 EAST CLOSED NEAR ASHEVILLE

All lanes of I-40 East are closed at Exit 53 (I-240) due to a crash. The road is expected to reopen by 3:00 PM. Detour: Motorists are advised to use Exit 46-B (I-240 East). Continue on I-240 East for 8 miles to re-access I-40 East.
