Georgia man faces drug charges in Macon County, NC

Arrest of a Georgia man following an investigation by the Macon County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit and the NC State Bureau of Investigation.

On Wednesday evening Robert Jewel of Athens Georgia was arrested at a residence that Mr. Jewel had rented for the week in the Franklin area through AirBNB. Following the investigation, search warrants were issued and later executed by the MCSO Special Response Team and the MCSO Narcotics Unit. Once officers made entry into the residence and secured the scene Mr. Jewel was arrested and taken into custody. Jewel was later transported to the Macon County Detention Center were he remains at the time of this release.

Charges include: 
Trafficking heroin by Possession. 
Trafficking heroin by Sell or Deliver. 
Maintaining a Dwelling.

$1,500,000.00 bond has been set by the Magistrate. Additional charges are forthcoming and other arrests are expected. The investigation is ongoing as investigators have already determined other connections Mr. Jewel has in the Macon County and surrounding areas.
