Minneapolis, MN -- Midwest has been hit by a Polar Vortex, forcing businesses to close as temperatures plummet to -32 to -56.

The old unofficial motto "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." does not apply to a Polar Vortex.

WSET.com:

The U.S. Postal Service announced on Tuesday afternoon that they are suspending mail deliveries on Wednesday in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, Iowa and western Illinois.

Pickups from businesses, residences and collection boxes are also suspended. The USPS cited "deteriorating weather conditions" being the cause for the mail cancellation.

All of the state of Minnesota will have feel-like temperatures Wednesday morning ranging between minus-32 and minus-56 degrees. Frostbite can set in on exposed skin within five minutes of exposure.
