Boone -- Boone Police responded to a Walmart larceny on Saturday, May 3, 2025. At 8:45 p.m., a male individual came inside the business and took out a baseball bat.  

The suspect damaged display cases in the Jewelry Department with the bat.  The individual fled the store after stealing multiple pieces of jewelry. 
Peter Grant Catoe, 30, of Knollwood Drive in Boone, was identified as the male subject throughout the investigation.  A search warrant for Catoe's home was obtained by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Boone Police Department.  Several pieces of the jewelry that had been taken from Walmart were found when the search warrant was carried out.

Peter Catoe was placed under arrest and charged with Felony Larceny and Felony Damage to Property. Catoe was issued a court date in Watauga County District Court on June 30, 2025 and placed in the custody of the Watauga County Detention Center under a $25,000.00 secured bond.
