McDowell County -- Evacuation Order Issued for Wild Acres Rd. due to Wildfire in McDowell County Little Switzerland, NC - McDowell County Emergency Management has issued an evacuation order for all residences on Wild Acres Rd. off of NC 226 A near Little Switzerland due to a rapidly growing wildfire.

This includes the Wild Acres Retreat.

Fire Situation: A wildfire is currently burning south of Wild Acres Rd. and north of Armstrong Creek Rd. The fire is estimated at 75 acres with 0% containment and poses a significant threat to the safety of residents.

Joint Response: The fire is being managed through a unified command involving the NC Forest Service, US Forest Service, and Woodlawn Fire Department.
