McDowell County -- The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 46-year-old April Mechelle Loftis of Hendersonville with felony

 Possession of Methamphetamine.

She was given a secured bond of $3,000. 

On February 21, deputies responded to a call about a possible domestic violence incident that was taking place inside a moving vehicle. The caller stated a red truck was traveling down a road in the Nebo community at a high rate of speed while a female occupant was waving for help and trying to jump out. 

Deputies located the truck, which had been abandoned in the woods. Upon approach of the vehicle, a male and female walked out of the woods to identify themselves as Loftis and Lee Emmett Charles, 54, of Marion. 

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a suspected amount of meth and drug paraphernalia. Both Loftis and Charles were taken into custody and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.

Charles was also charged by Deputy Eudy with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Assault on a Female. He was given a secured bond of $20,00
