North Carolina -- April 29, 2022: Early Voting in North Carolina has begun! The 17-day one-stop early voting period for
the 2022 statewide primary, which ends at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022. During the early voting period, voters may cast a ballot at any one-stop site in their county. 

Asheville -- April 28, 2022 Asheville Police announced yesterday six people with outstanding warrants for larceny and other offences are being sought by the Asheville Police Department.
The warrants were issued recently for crimes committed in Asheville during the past few months at various locations.

Western North Carolina -- April 28, 2022: According to the US Forest Service, around 3 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway in a popular region are closed until further notice while personnel combat a blaze. 
A 172-acre fire on the parkway is being fought by Forest Service firefighters.

Raleigh -- April 28, 2022 A pilot program that will begin in July will give career coaching to help people succeed and develop in their careers  was announced by Governor Roy Cooper.  The pilot program will provide career coaching to state employees with ASD who need assistance applying for promotions or job changes within state government,

News -- April 27, 2022: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department issued a ticket to U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-North Carolina, on Tuesday for bringing a gun to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. According to a police report, the incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m.

North Carolina  -- April 21, 2022: NC Governor Roy Cooper proclaimed April as Tick and Mosquito Awareness Month in North Carolina. Preliminary data, in 2021 there were more than 1,000 cases of tick- and mosquito-borne diseases.

Asheville -- April 21, 2022 In a press release the National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United (NNOC/NNU), announced the Asheville, North Carolina, hospital's registered nurses will hold a speak-out on Thursday, April 21, to demand that HCA ensure safe patient staffing in all units throughout the hospital.

News -- April 20, 2022: Governor Roy Cooper announced today that furniture manufacturer Vanguard Furniture Company, Inc. plans to create 100 new jobs in Burke County, North Carolina. Morganton's upholstery manufacturing operations will receive a $5.9 million investment from the company.

Buncombe County -- April 20, 2022 -- The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment of $621,438 on Tuesday, April 19, the first allocation of funds from a recent national opioid settlement.
Every day, nearly eight North Carolinians die as a result of an opioid overdose.
