(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged a suspect with the murder of Charles Anthony Fuentes, who was reported missing on March 5, 2018. Fuentes was last seen during the early morning hours of March 3, 2018 leaving Izzy’s Sports Bar located at 150 Andrews Road.

Suspect Charged with Murder of Charles Fuentes

 Detectives have charged Ryan D. Chavis (I/M, 23 years of age), of the 6800 block of Tallpine Drive, with 1st Degree Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit 1st Degree Kidnapping, and 1st Degree Murder for his involvement in the Missing Persons case of Charles Anthony Fuentes.

 

Chavis was already in custody as he was previously charged with Accessory After the Fact to Commit 1st Degree Murder for this same investigation. The Accessory After the Fact charge has been dismissed as the charges were upgraded. Chavis continues to be held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

 

The location of the victim’s remains are still unknown. Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to ask for the public’s assistance, by contacting Detectives or Crimestoppers with any information relevant to the investigation.

 

This remains an ongoing investigation.

Detectives Continue to Seek Information on Missing Person Charles Fuentes

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department continue to request the public’s assistance in locating Charles Anthony Fuentes, who was reported missing on March 5, 2018. Fuentes last seen in the early morning hours on March 3, 2018 leaving Izzy’s Sports Bar located at 150 Andrews Road.

 

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018 Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit were contacted by Horry County Police Department and informed Mark Allen Verhasselt (A/M, 42 years of age) of the 5200 block of Rockingham Road, was the victim in a recent homicide. Verhasselt was considered a person of interest in the endangered missing person’s case of Charles Anthony Fuentes. The two incidents do not appear to be related.
