APD & BCS Return to Normal Missing Persons Reporting Operations
Asheville/Buncombe County -- October 16, 2024: Buncombe County Sheriff's Office: The Asheville Police Department
(APD) and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) would like to inform the public that we have returned to normal operations. Members of the public should use the standard procedures to report missing persons or request welfare checks.
APD’s Helene Missing Persons Reporting form has been officially deactivated as of October 8, 2024. This form was temporarily made available to help report missing persons and conduct welfare checks due to the communication disruptions following Hurricane Helene.
Additionally, BCSO has consolidated the missing persons reports related to Hurricane Helene that were submitted through multiple sources, including 211, routine reporting channels, and the Register of Deeds. This effort ensures there are no duplicated cases or reporting gaps. Routine reporting processes have resumed as of today.
Both agencies have returned to normal operations, and members of the public should use the standard procedures to report missing persons or request welfare checks.
For non-emergency situations, please contact the APD at 828-252-1110 or the BCSO at 828-250-6670.
For urgent or emergency situations, please call 911.
We appreciate the community's cooperation and patience during this period and want to assure you that both agencies remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents
