Manna FoodBank WNC Hurricane Helene: We Need Your Help
WNC -- October 10, 2024: MANNA FOODBank posted the following on YouTube asking for help in the aftermath of
Hurricane Helene. WNCTimes is sharing the video and their information to get the word out.
Please read, watch the video, and help if you can. Thank You so much. We will get through this together.
Since 1982, we have served 16 counties of Western North Carolina. But in all our time serving our 6500 square mile region, we have never encountered anything like this.
Our facility was one of the victims of Hurricane Helene. A wall of water washed away food, equipment, computers -- almost everything we used day to day to make our operation run. But, with the help of supporters like you, we were able to help people within days.
We are working as hard as we can to help our neighbors in need of food, water, and supplies. Normally, we serve on average 158,000 people a month and this is before an emergency of this scale. The need will be tremendous for the coming weeks and months. We are asking for your help. Your monetary donation is critical for us to continue to feed thousands in our area, while we also work to rebuild our food bank.
For four decades, Manna Food Bank has fought against the daily disaster of hunger in Western North Carolina. Now, thousands of very proud people in our community have lost everything. These hard-working, very proud people would normally never dream of having to ask for help. And we let them know it is a gift of love, made possible because someone like you opened your heart and helped people you will never meet.
Everything we do is because someone donated to us. Donated their prayers, their volunteer time, their hard-earned money. All to help people in our community needing a hand up. We are so blessed and thankful to the countless donors, organizations, agencies, and Feeding America network partners who are doing their best to bring in supplies. On behalf of our staff, volunteers, and those we serve, thank you for making it possible to help so many.
