McDowell County Man Faces Mutltiple Drug Charges

McDowell County -- August 28, 2024: McDowell County Sheriff's: Matthew Goldsmith of Marion was charged

with Possession with Intent to Sell, Manufacture or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Schedule I

Controlled Substance and Possession of Methamphetamine. Goldsmith was ordered to be held without a bond due to being out on bond for previous unrelated charges.

On August 11th a vehicle was stopped on Sugar Hill Road for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license and Goldsmith was the only passenger. Numerous empty beer cans could be seen throughout the interior of the car.

A Marion Police Department K9 responded and alerted for the presence of controlled substances. A search of Goldsmith turned up fifteen grams of suspected methamphetamine and a small amount of suspected mushrooms.
