Asheville Juvenile Faces Murder Charges

Asheville -- July 14, 2024: APD officers responded to a report of an altercation with weapons at an apartment complex

on Depot Street at approximately 7:22 p.m. on July 13. They discovered a male who was afflicted with severe injuries as a result of the altercation. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital, where they ultimately succumbed to their injuries. 

A 17-year-old suspect has been charged with First Degree Murder in connection with a struggle that resulted in the death of a man, as per the Asheville Police Department's consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office.

The homicide victim has been identified by detectives as Caleb Savon Gilliam (06/04/1995). The next of kin has been notified.
