Vulcan Quarry on June 24 has been identified as Jason Matthew Sams. The sheriff's office confirmed that Sams succumbed to blunt force trauma resulting from a fall from an elevated surface onto hard ground. Authorities have notified his next of kin of his untimely death.

The sheriff's office initially announced the investigation on social media on June 24, stating they were looking into a death at the Vulcan Quarry in Enka. The social media post revealed that a 911 call had been made earlier that day, reporting the incident.
