McDowell County -- July 9, 2024: On Monday a small plane crash in McDowell County, North Carolina, claimed

the lives of three individuals. The plane, which was initially reported missing, was later discovered near the intersection of Brackett Town Road and Vein Mountain Road, marking a somber day for the local community.

The McDowell County Emergency Management team responded promptly to the incident, launching a search and rescue operation after the aircraft was reported missing. The downed plane was eventually found near the McDowell-Rutherford County line. Emergency officials confirmed that all three occupants of the aircraft had perished in the crash.

AirStar Aviation, the operator of the aircraft, expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims. In their statement, they mentioned that despite clear conditions at the time of takeoff, the plane encountered poor weather conditions, which likely contributed to the crash.
