McDowell County -- June 27, 2024: William Charles Huskey, a 45-year-old resident of Asheville, was charged by the

McDowell County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday with Common Law Robbery and Simple Assault. Huskey was granted a secured bond in the amount of $25,000.

On June 13th, Deputy Day was dispatched to the 81-mile sign on I-40 in response to an allegation of a robbery. The victim said that his motorcycle became unfastened and dropped from his truck while going on I-40. After departing the area, he went to rent a trailer. Upon his return, he discovered that Huskey was in the midst of loading his Harley into a trailer with the intention of stealing it. A confrontation occurred, during which Huskey physically attacked the victim and then escaped with the stolen motorcycle.

Deputies and Troopers from the NC State Highway Patrol apprehended Huskey in close proximity to the incident.
