Asheville -- May 31, 2024: The Asheville Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying

a gunman who shot into an occupied home early Sunday morning. Thankfully, no one was injured; only property damage has been reported at this time.

Officers responded to a residence on Hibernia Street to investigate reports of a gun discharge around 1:04 a.m. on May 26th. When officers arrived, the suspect was no longer on scene. While canvassing the area officers located a residence that had been struck by gunfire and 17 shell casings. One of the bullets entered the residence, and into an interior wall of a child's bedroom. 

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the APD at (828) 252-1110. You can also send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
