Asheville -- Asheville Police Department News Release April 24, 2024:

The Asheville Police Department and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office conducted a joint special operation targeting larceny and quality of life issues in various Asheville locations.

A targeted operation was in response to a significant volume of complaints and concerns raised by various community organizations regarding crimes including trespassing, theft, public intoxication, and drug-related activities. This operation aimed to address these issues on the border of Asheville City Limits, with particular attention paid to businesses in the Airport Rd area where such criminal activities have been observed. Throughout the operational period, officers, detectives, supervisors, professional staff, and Deputies of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office participated in a coordinated effort to ensure comprehensive coverage and enforcement.
We appreciate the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office for their invaluable participation in this targeted operation. Their collaboration significantly enhanced our efforts to address the concerns raised by our community.
In total, 23 persons were charged, including 13 arrested, 10 warrants served, and 32 new charges, 5 of which were felonies.
