Rutherford County -- February 7, 2024: The Union County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina contacted the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division Monday asking for help in finding a missing person inside their jurisdiction.

Union County Detectives reported that their department had finished filing a missing person report on February 2, 2024.

Following the completion of the report, it was discovered that on January 13, 2024, the missing person's car had been found and towed in the Green Hill region. Following the report, there was a delayed hit indicating that the car had been towed in January. RCSO detectives were called to the 64/74A neighborhood near Walking Horse Trail in the Greenhill neighborhood.

Because the vehicle of the missing adult male was found there in January, detectives searched the area on foot. James Harry Keller, 56, was found dead by detectives, and he was taken to Rutherford Regional so the coroner could determine the cause of death. At this time, self-inflicted death is thought to be the cause of death.
