Asheville --  July 25, 2025: An assault on a cyclist in north Asheville late on Wednesday night is being investigated by Asheville Police. 
 On Thursday, officers were called to Mission Hospital at 12:37 a.m. after learning that a biker had arrived with injuries from an assault.

Around 10:00 p.m. on July 23, the victim informed police that he was riding north on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Merrimon Avenue when he was struck in the face by an unidentified object that was thrown from a passing car.  He suffered many injuries, including several lacerations, a huge abrasion above the eye, and a bloody nose, when the impact led him to fall from his bicycle.  The victim was taken by a third party to the hospital for medical attention.

The victim was unable to provide a description of the vehicle involved. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact the Asheville Police Department at (828) 252-1110.
