Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Charges
Cherokee County -- October 24, 2023: According to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on Friday at 9:08 PM, a law enforcement officer from the Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop in the vicinity of the 2400 block of Caney Creek Road.
The car halted and a man individual, identified as Roger Wayne Stockton, hastily exited from the rear seat of the vehicle and disappeared into the forested region. The Deputy successfully apprehended Stockton without any complications. A pouch was discovered in close proximity to Stockton, containing 56.6g of Methamphetamine, 21.7g of Cocaine, and 5.7g of Fentanyl. In addition, a fully loaded weapon was also found and retrieved.
Stockton, a convicted Felon, was charged with the following offenses:
• Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Transport
• Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession
• Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Transport
• Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession
• Felony Possession of Cocaine
• Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Possession of Firearm by Felon
Stockton received a $265,000.00 secured bond and a court date of November 1, 2023 from a North Carolina Magistrate.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
