BC 𝗦heriff's Office Charges Man For Mutiple Breaking and Enterings

Buncombe County -- Buncombe County Sheriff's Office Press Release October 12, 2023:

Detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Randall Paul Penland Jr., age 47, for a series of Breaking and Enterings in the Fairview and Arden areas. On September 29th, 2023, Detectives received information that led to a search warrant being executed at the residence of 84 Concord Road in Asheville.

Charged filed by the Sheriff’s Office are:
- Six counts of Felony Breaking and Entering
- Three Counts of Felony Larceny After Breaking
- Misdemeanor Larceny
Penland was on Parole. As a result of these parole violations, he has been transferred back to the Department of Adult Corrections to complete the remainder of his sentence for a Habitual Felon conviction in 2014.

After an extensive investigation beginning this summer, Detectives recovered stolen property from Penland’s residence. Penland targeted the homes of older women in the community and when they weren’t home, he would break in and steal jewelry and other personal items of value. Led by Detective David Reed of the Sheriff’s Office this remains an active investigation.
“Thank you to our Detectives who worked long hours to move this investigation forward and recover this stolen property,” says Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller.
