RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A 23-year-old man accused of shooting someone to death on the North Carolina State University campus has been charged with murder, according to authorities.

Theodore James Lee Jr. was arrested at the university’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, N.C. State Police said in a statement.

Officers were called to the area after an argument broke out between Lee and Quinten Crawford, 61, according to N.C. State Police Chief Daniel L. House. Investigators said Lee pulled out a gun and shot Crawford, who was sitting in the front seat of a car.

Police said Crawford was the father of Lee’s estranged girlfriend.

Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said none of the people involved were North Carolina State University students, faculty or staff.

Lee was set to appear in court Thursday. It was unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
