Boone -- In the Boone parking lot of United Muffler, Boone Police Patrol officers helped the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with a traffic check on Monday.  

 During the stop, a Watauga County Sheriff's Office deputy and his K-9 were called in.  

Narcotics were detected in the halted vehicle by the K-9.  During a check of the car and its occupants, 52 grams of suspected methamphetamine and items used for packaging and distributing drugs were found.

30-year-old Destiny Amber Salmons and 36-year-old Christopher Wayne Ellison, both of Boone were placed under arrest. 
Salmons was charged with Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell or Distribute Methamphetamine. Salmons was issued a court date of June 30, 2025, and placed in the custody of the Avery County Detention Center without bond.

Ellison was charged with Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ellison was issued a court date of June 30, 2025, and placed in the custody of the Watauga County Detention Center under a $1000.00 secured bond.
