Asheville --  Officers from the Asheville Police Department made two arrests this past weekend while enforcing crime prevention measures in a neighborhood in west Asheville.

Just after midnight on May 17, while officers were responding to an unrelated request for service on Cordova Street, they noticed a man throwing away a plastic baggie when he saw them.  The individual, Terrance Antonio Lucas (05/22/1989), was apprehended by officers and discovered to be in possession of a bag of white powder, marijuana, and a sizable sum of money.  Officers brought Lucas into arrest without any problems after recovering the baggie that contained drugs.  


Officers saw a car on Hanover Street failing to stop at a stop sign at around 7:44 p.m. on May 18th in the second incident.  Melissa Jean Thompson (04/20/1980), the passenger, was brought into custody without incident after it was discovered that she was in possession of a trafficking quantity of methamphetamine during the traffic stop.

Lucas was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $200,000 (or $20,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
