Heroes: Colorado Humane Society Officers Rescue Dog From Cliff

I've seen pets get themselves in some interesting situations, but this one ranks up there. 

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region said a dog named Jessie Lee was rescued from a cliff earlier this week.

The adorable puppy, later named Jessie Lee by her rescuers, needed some medical attention after fighting off the mountain lions for two weeks.

It was a relatively routine Wednesday afternoon when our Animal Law Enforcement (ALE) team received a call about a dog stuck on a cliff overlooking Fountain Creek.
Officers Barker and Johnson arrived and were able to see a dog through their binoculars. The dog was stuck on a small ledge about 50 yards above the creek. The officers were able to locate an area right above where the dog was stuck, and a man living nearby supplied the officers with a mountaineering harness and rappelling rope.
Officer Barker anchored herself to a sturdy wooden fencepost and began rappelling down to the dog. Once the dog saw Officer Barker, she immediately started to wag her tail and crawl towards her, but the ground was slipping out from underneath the dog. She was too far away to reach, so Officer Johnson lowered a catchpole which Officer Barker was able to get around the dog's neck and shoulder. This allowed Officer Barker to slowly pull the dog closer without the risking of losing her if she fell.
Once the pup was finally in the arms of Officer Barker, Officer Johnson lowered a secondary rope which was securely tied into a makeshift harness for the dog. Officer Johnson quickly pulled up the dog and Officer Barker shortly after. Once both Officer Barker and the dog were off the cliff, they found out the dog's name was "Jessie Lee" from her microchip and name tag.
Once Jessie Lee was back at HSPPR, we were able to find her owner's contact information. Our team in Lost & Found gave them a call, and before we could even tell them the good news, Jessie Lee's owner was asking if we found their beloved pup.
Jessie Lee was missing for two weeks, and her owners were looking for her every day. When we told them she was ready to come home, they were there first thing the next morning to pick up their Jessie Lee.

What an awesome rescue! The fact that they were able to get this dog safely up the side of that cliff, without any injuries to the animal, shows a lot of skill, and training on their part. The bond they have with all of those animals is unbelievable, and I salute all the hard work they do on day in and day out basis!
