(October 11, 2023) Detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriffโ€™s Office have arrested Randall Paul Penland Jr., age 47, for a series of Breaking and Enterings in the Fairview and Arden areas. On Friday, September 29th, 2023, Detectives received information that led to a search warrant being executed at the residence of 84 Concord Road in Asheville.
Charged filed by the Sheriffโ€™s Office are:
โ€ข Six counts of Felony Breaking and Entering
โ€ข Three Counts of Felony Larceny After Breaking
โ€ข Misdemeanor Larceny

Penland was on Parole. As a result of these parole violations, he has been transferred back to the Department of Adult Corrections to complete the remainder of his sentence from a Habitual Felon conviction in 2014.
After an extensive investigation beginning this summer, Detectives recovered stolen property from Penlandโ€™s residence. Penland targeted the homes of older women in the community and when they werenโ€™t home, he would break in and steal jewelry and other personal items of value. Led by Detective David Reed of the Sheriffโ€™s Office this remains an active investigation.

โ€œThank you to our Detectives who worked long hours to move this investigation forward and recover this stolen property,โ€ says Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller.
