Hickory Police Investigate Shooting

Hickory -- January 7, 2025: Press Release: The Hickory Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at an apartment

complex in Hickory on Monday. Officers responded to a shooting at the Landings of Hickory at

1836 20th Avenue Drive NE around 5 p.m. where they located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, Lee Marquis Wilson, 31, of Hickory, was involved in a verbal conflict with a suspect prior to the shooting incident. Wilson was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

The suspect, Donzell Lamont Wilfong, 55, of Hickory, was located at the scene and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of firearm by felon. Wilfong was placed in the Catawba County Justice Center under no bond.
