Second Suspect Arrested in Shooting of Brevard College Football Player
Hickory -- January 3, 2025: Hickory Police Department Update: Hickory Police have arrested and charged another suspect for the
shooting that occurred on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, that left one seriously injured.
Patsy Elaine Humphries, 31, of Lenoir, was taken into custody on January 2, 2025, for two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. Humphries was placed in the Catawba County Justice Center under a $375,000 secure bond. Lenoir Police Department assisted with the apprehension of Humphries.

The Hickory Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in the area of 2nd Street NW and Main Avenue NW.
Hickory Police Officers responded to the area of 2nd Street NW and Main Avenue NW shortly after 2 a.m. to reports of a shooting. Jordan Blake Ramey, 22, of Yadkinville, North Carolina was located near the sidewalk of the intersection suffering from gunshot wounds. Ramey was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center and was later transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where he is in stable condition.
It initially appears the suspect was engaged in an incident with another group of individuals nearby when the suspect fired shots and struck Ramey. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving. Ramey was not involved with either the suspect or the other group involved in the initial incident.
The suspect, Javier Hampton Trevino Jr., 20, of Lenoir, was taken into custody on January 2, 2025 for two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and one count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. Trevino was placed in the Catawba County Justice Center under no bond. Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir Police Department assisted with the investigation and apprehension of Trevino.
