FEMA Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers Return to Buncombe County
Buncombe County -- December 2, 2024: Press Release FEMA Office: FEMA has announced the opening of a Mobile
Disaster Recovery Center (M-DRC) in Buncombe County to assist residents affected by Tropical Storm Helene. The M-DRC will operate at the following locations and times:

Apply for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)
FEMA financial assistance may cover basic home repairs, personal property losses, and other uninsured disaster-related needs such as childcare, transportation, medical, funeral, or dental expenses. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is Jan. 7, 2025.
Homeowners and renters in 39 North Carolina counties, as well as tribal members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, can visit any open center, including those in other states. No appointment is needed. To find center locations, visit fema.gov/drc or text “DRC” and a ZIP code to 43362.
Applying for FEMA assistance does not require visiting a center. The fastest way to apply is online at DisasterAssistance.gov or via the FEMA app. You can also call 800-621-3362. If you use a relay service, such as video relay or captioned telephone, provide FEMA with your number for that service.
