    Buncombe County -- November 12, 2024: The Buncombe County Sheriffโ€™s Office confirmed in a press release that Detention Center Officer Emmanuel Joseph Bader died in a vehicle accident.

    The incident took place shortly after midnight Tuesday on New Stock Road. Another Detention Center Officer, who was also involved in the accident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mission Hospital for medical attention.

    The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is conducting a thorough review to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, but no further information has been provided at this time.
