Shooting on Blue Ridge Parkway

Blue Ridge Parkway -- May 29, 2024: A 12-mile section of the renowned Blue Ridge Parkway was closed on Wednesday

while police looked for the shooter.

The shooting occurred on the roadway in North Carolina, south of Asheville. 

At approximately 2:00 pm, park rangers received a call reporting gunfire close to milepost 398. As a result, the parkway between mileposts 393.6 and 405 was closed.

The 19-year-old male victim is in critical condition at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
