Apparent Elderly Couple Murder-Suicide in Waynesville

Waynesville -- April 27, 2024: Friday morning in a Hazelwood neighborhood, Waynesville Police conducted an

investigation into what appears to be a murder-suicide.

At 15 Mississippi Avenue, the bodies of Richard Stuart Hoyle, 89, and Ellen Rhodes Hoyle, 85, were discovered.

It appeared that Richard Hoyle killed Ellen Hoyle and then himself, according to Waynseville Police Chief David Adams. Each individual was killed with a handgun.

As of now, the motive remains unknown.
