Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges in Rutherford County
Rutherford County -- On Friday Investigators assigned to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office A.C.E. Team along with Road Patrol were conducting an investigation on Jacob Steven Smith of Forest City.
Information was reported that Smith was responsible for trafficking large amounts of methamphetamine throughout Rutherford County.
A traffic stop was conducted for an insurance violation on the vehicle that Smith was known to drive.A “Charlie Crew” Smith immediately admitted to having marijuana in his possession.
Investigators and Road Patrol Officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. Dep. Chris Hall located methamphetamine hidden in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Officers seized the following:
-119.4 Grams of Methamphetamine
-10.1 Grams of Marijuana
-Various forms of Drug paraphernalia to include digital scales
-$769.00 in U.S. Currency
Smith was arrested and received a $50,000 secured bond.
