Madison County High School Student Dies in Vehicle Accident
Madison County -- January 31, 2024: According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, officers are investigating a Tuesday morning collision in Madison County that claimed one life and seriously injured another.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on NC 213 according to troopers.
Troopers said that while the SUV was turning into NC 213 from a private drive, it struck a pickup truck, which then struck another vehicle.
According to troopers, the SUV's 17-year-old driver died at the scene of the collision, and one of the vehicle's passengers was hospitalized with critical injuries. According to the troopers, the passenger's condition is stable.
This morning a Madison High School student was killed in a tragic automobile accident on Highway 213 in Marshall. Our entire Madison County Schools family is mourning the loss of a bright and promising member of our school community. At this time, we ask that everyone respect the privacy of the family involved. We have additional counselors available at Madison High School to support our students and staff in this time of grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family, friends, and educators.
