Driver Faces Drug Charges After Traffic Stop
Rutherford County -- May 9, 2023: Deputy Josh Fleming of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office
was patrolling the area around Main Street Ellenboro on Monday, May 8, 2023,
in the early morning hours.
Deputy Fleming stopped a vehicle for multiple equipment violations while on patrol with the help
of Lt. Corey Smith and Sgt. Joseph McComas. Lt. Smith used his K9 partner Gitmo during the traffic stop
and gave him free rein to sniff the area around the car. Gitmo the K9 detected narcotics. The vehcile was
checked out. Deputies found 6.9 grams of marijuana, 1.8 grams of fentanyl, and 49.7 grams of methamphetamine
during the search.
The driver, Andy Darren Green, 54 of Bostic, was arrested and charged with the following:
TRAFFICKING IN METHAMPHETAMINE
PWIMSD SCH II CS
PWIMSD MARIJUANA
MAINTAINING A VEHICLE FOR CS
RESISTING PUBLIC OFFICER
POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
POSSESS MARIJUANA PARAPHERNALIA
Mr. Green was given a $125,000 secured bond.
