Asheville -- March 4, 2022 Asheville Police Department detectives and officers arrested a local man,

Damon Tyriq Smith, Jr., Thursday for carrying a concealed handgun with an extended drum magazine.
The arrest occurred in a parking lot on McDowell St., and was assisted by the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation. Smith was charged with Carrying a Concealed Gun, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting, Delay and Obstruct.

Officers seized a Glock 17 pistol (9mm) and a pistol drum magazine. Smith was transported to the Buncombe County Detention Center and released on $5,000 bail.
