Minneapolis -- Thursday December 23, 2021 Jurors convicted a suburban Minneapolis white police officer Kim Potter, was

found guilty of two manslaughter charges Thursday in the killing of Daunte Wright.

Wright was a Black motorist Potter shot during a traffic stop after she said she confused her gun for her Taser. 

Potter said during her testimony that โ€œdidnโ€™t want to hurt anybody.โ€ 

The mostly white jury deliberated for about four days before finding former Brooklyn Center officer Kim Potter guilty of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter. 

Potter faces about seven years in prison on the most serious count under the stateโ€™s sentencing guidelines, but prosecutors said they would seek a longer term.

The maximum sentence for manslaughter in the 1st-degree is 15 years.

Potter is scheduled to be sentenced in February 2022
